Love Standards

Once upon a time… My friend Chelsea and I after being hurt and not dating the guys we deserve, collaborated to make a list of rules and standards which we think we should apply to the people we date. Now we have decided to share them with you:

  1.  if they do not give you the time of day, why give them some of yours?
  2. if someone is truly interested in you, you will talk to them almost everyday. if it’s been more than 2 days and you haven’t heard from them move on.
  3. they need to have goals and aspirations that are actually attainable and have a plan on how they are going to reach those goals.
  4. have a job!
  5. if you are the one that has to drive them around and drop them off, they will take you for granted.
  6. actions speak louder than words ALWAYS. watch what they do don’t listen to what they say.
  7. if they break promises, break it off
  8. if they say that they are going to do something make sure they do it. if not move on. You don’t need that crap in your life.
  9. who you surround yourself with reflects you. make sure that the crowd you’re in is actually doing good things with their lives.

Farewell Summer

Photographer: Adam Hagy

As we wave goodbye to summer and welcome fall with open arms, with PSL in hand. I just want to say goodbye with one more summer outfit of the day before the autumn is fully upon us. This was such a fun shoot with my good friend Adam. Of course I got in the water because why not! It was mushy but I will do what I have to do to get a good shot. However I am in LOVE with this dress. I found it at Plato’s closet when I was there selling clothes. I have dreamed up this dress I swear. It is so comfy and versatile. This time I paired it with a vest and wedges to make it more casual. but I have worn it before all by its self and a pair of heals and its a wonderful stand alone piece. As much as I love summer weather, I’m so ready for fall and winter, ayers, lattes, ice skating, but I digress. Goodbye summer we will miss you.

SO much to write about and not enough time to write about it.

Life has me running marathons at the moment. With everything going on like school starting, ended relationship, new blonde hair, applying to a new school, busy job, new workout regiment etc. A magical more-time-in-the-day potion would be great! I’m trying to be proactive with my time but sometimes all I want to do is sit and watch The Office {my current Netflix obsession} and eat and entire thing of soy ice cream. Instead I am currently sitting at Starbucks sipping a green tea with mango, writing this update of what is to come.

I have some planned stories for the blog coming up:

My Acne Story: Explaining my acne story and what did and didn’t work for me.

My College Tips Tricks and Trials: More trials then tips, but life goes on!

How I dealt with a Break Up: Working through the mixings of feelings. You are not alone.

More Instagram posts!!

Life may have caught me up the stream but with my paddle full of plans we will get places! Keep up with all all the crazy, its way more fun than the Kardashians.

xoxo Gossip… I mean Fashion Keeper!

Back to School

It’s that time of year again. Away go the bikinis and out come the books. For us college students it means a new course load, book list, and professors. Honestly, I’m excited for school this year. Summer becomes a little to boring after about a month of only working and hanging out with friends. I need stimulation, something to keep me busy and progressing not just floating through everyday life.

My campus favorites at pretty simple. I always have my phone and my external charger. You never know when you cant find a plug and it is nice to have a back up. A book and headphones to past the time between classes. A handful of make up quick touch up products. I usually don’t wear too much make up to class, lets my skin breath a bit. Of course my campus life wouldn’t be complete without a ridiculously large bag to carry it all in and a cute wallet too.

_MG_6346I spend a lot of time in the library. I love the quiet and productivity of it.

_MG_6348Have to catch up on the gossip!

_MG_6362Honestly though just have a good semester. Focus on your studies but don’t forget to have fun while you’re at it.

Friday Favorites

Time to kick the weekend off with a Friday Favorites! These are just a few of many products that I use and love. Hope you find something to try!

This is my favorite summer nail polish. I love the flirty color of this classic pink shade. It also has coral/gold glitter in the color that are perfect for summer.

Dark spot are still haunting my face after my acne invasion. I first tried this product in sample size in a gift bag from a fashion show. I couldn’t believe it, my dark shots were disappearing before my eyes like a circus act. Since then I bought a full size. I apply this after my toner and before my acne gel. Used consistently it aids in minimizing dark spots.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetI use to think the Clarosonic and other brushes were a gimmick. I just used my hands and a bit of soap and went along with my day. However I struggled with a bit of acne for a while and decided to try using a Clarosonic. The scrubbing power of this thing proved me wrong. I could never go back to just washing my face with my hands. I bring it everywhere and with such a cute shape and color how could I not!

Dooney and Bourke has always been one of my favorite purse brands. I bought this old school cross body saddle bag from a consignment store for $25. Personally I’m not a fan of Dooney and Bourke’s newer designs, I miss ones like this, so I was thrilled to find one for a good price. This is currently my favorite bag and I am in love with the color and size. However once school starts I may need to move back into a bigger bag, for now this one is perfect for fitting my planner, wallet, phone keys, keys and wide array for lip glosses.

Hopefully you found something new to try! What are your favorite products?

Travel Series: Top 5 Road Trip Tips

Travel Series

This summer I had the wonderful opportunity to go on a road trip with two of my best friends from my childhood. We headed from Atlanta, GeorgiIMG_3775a, USA to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. {For the Women’s World Cup Game, which was absolutely fantastic.} We had been planning the trip for about two months before going to decide who we would stay with along the way and who needed to bring what and such. I personally can say I learned a ton on this trip. I learned more about myself and other cities around America throughout the trip. If you get the chance to go on such a road trip with good friends, GO FOR IT, but make sure to read my tips before you head on the road.

Don’t Pack Everything

I know every travel blog out there tells everyone to pack light, but on road trips especially. I thought I packed light, but I didn’t even wear half of the clothes I brought. I stuck to comfy shorts/Capri leggings/leggings and loose-fitting, flowing shirts. The possibility for dressing cute is still an option, but you want it to be the comfy sort of cute.  I prefer a flowing tunic and Capri leggings with sandals for driving, that way you can take your shoes off and curl up. Also You can repeat outfits, people from Minneapolis are not going to know you are wearing the same leggings from when you were in Chicago.

Seat Jobs Assignments

Like mom giving you chores, everyone in the car agree on car jobs to keep the car clean and efficient. We also named our jobs officially so we could be proud of the things we had to do.

Three Seat Example: Front Drivers Seat: Drive. That is all! Front Passenger: Trash Ambassador and Head of Navigation. Backseat: Snacks Distributor and Assistant in Navigation.

IMG_5789If everyone has a job its easy to keep things organized.

Bring a Pillow and a Blanket

You wont always have control of the AC. It may be cold or hot and you at least want a blanket and pillow if you do find yourself lucky enough to be in the backseat. {Backseat is the most comfortable place to sleep.}

Health Conscious

One of my mistakes on the road was not to take very good care of myself. I ended up getting sick the last few days. I’m not exactly sure why, but I’m going to guess I did not wash my hands as much as I should have, although I did wash them frequently! Make sure you bring a First Aid Kit on your trip, just incase someone gets a paper cut or something. {I got three total, all in one day.} Hand Sanitizer in a must too! I would also bring Emergen-C! If you have never heard of them, drive to your nearest grocery store and buy some, they are in the medicine section. They are individual packets of Vitamin C goodies! They have a wonderful fizzy texture and yummy taste {raspberry is my favorite.}  Just remember to take care of yourself!

Plan for Spontaneity

The best part about road trips is the room for changes depending on the day, weather, who you run into, anything can alter your exact plans. The way we formulated our trip was to have a couple of hours in the big cities we went to and saw what or who we wanted to see in those cities before moving on. Get the most out of your trip, you may only get the chance to road trip with your besties once in a lifetime.

Have fun traveling Babes!

Travel Series

I’m back! It has been a long slightly stressful adventure, not only with the blog, but with my summer. I have been none stop traveling or house sitting for all of June and half of July. I figured since I have learned from my traveling endeavors I would pass on my “wisdom” to you! I hereby announce the beginning of a Travel Series!

Athens Georgia Adventure

Photographer: Me!

Adventure Time!! I love to go out of my comfort zone as much as I’m comfortable with, oxymoron I know but it is true! This time for my birthday I set out to explore Athens Georgia! Although it was very rainy, we had some awesome food and great adventures. My favorite restaurant was Your Pie which was suggested by my friend Madison. Think Subway, but with pizza. My boyfriend and I split a pizza, I don’t remember what was on his side of it {I think a bit of everything.} Mine had tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil on wheat crust. They make the pizza right then and there so its fresh from the oven when they bring it to the table. I wish there was a Your Pie closer to wear I live. We also made some other stops at Zoe’s Kitchen, The Grill, and Arden’s Garden. At Zoe’s Kitchen I had a big healthy salad at, however I didn’t quite enjoy the quinoa. When we went to The Grill which is a 24 hour 50s diner that has the cutest decorations and some big burgers and even bigger milkshakes. Cody and I had to split the milkshake and I don’t believe we finished it. The Grill would be a wonderful place to go after a late night of drinking at the bars in Downtown Athens. We also made a stop at Arden’s Garden {one of my favorite juice places in Atlanta} to do a much needed Grand Slam. Grand Slams are also great to have before your big night on the town in Athens.

AND last but definitely not least, we made a sudden right turn while driving in Athens to see The Tree That Owns It’s Self! I couldn’t believe we found it! I forgot that the tree was even in Athens. This Tree legally owns itself. The owner of the land in his will left the tree and eight feet around it to itself. Such an independent plant!

Honestly if I could move to Athens next week I would. It has a nightlife like other, wonderful history, amazing people, and an overall wonderful city. Also love that it is “small” compared to Atlanta.

If you ever get the chance go visit Athens Georgia.

Evolution of Birthday Presents feat. My Wish List

We all know when you are younger birthdays involve presents. Big boxes wrapped in princess paper with a big pink bow on top. Once you hit about 17, after the big “sweet 16 birthday,” presents start to become scares. Your big headed teen self can get kind of annoyed because at that time it can be all about the material. High school deals a lot with who has what, but as we mature we realize it is not so much the big bows and fancy wrapping paper that is important, but more of the actual PRESENT people have in your life. We trade in a new bike for dinner with friends, or a sparkly watch for talks with your mom. Yes I still have things on my wish list for my birthday, but these things have become simpler and insinuate more meaning.

Yes I still have a few material things I want on my list, but I also don’t expect others to buy me fancy presents for my birthday. Most of the time I get myself presents, because the hardest person to receive love from is yourself, so why not show some love. {my logic any way LOL}

1. Now White Watch

I don’t want a Fossil or Micheal Kors watch, I simply want this one. It not only reminds me to be in the present, {yes, time is important, if future or current employers are reading I will not use this watch to get to work when I’m scheduled don’t worry ;)}but it also give half the profits to children in need. It would make a wonderful present to remind people to live in the present.

2. Have Dinner With My Parents And Grandparents

My birthday is not only my time, but also my parents and grandparents time. I am the oldest of three,  my parents lives completely shifted from “young adults” to “parents.” No more could they make irresponsible decisions like quit there job or move across the country without thinking. They had to make sure they had food on the table and a roof over my head now. My birthday is as much mine as it is theirs. I didn’t put this together until I was 18 years old. Not only did I change their lives but its my mothers BIRTHING Day for goodness sakes. She had to take time out of her day to push my little I’m-ready-to-be-in-the-world self out. Also my grandparents, they have been there to watch me grow, make mistakes, and all the while still loving me for who I am, just like my parents. For them to see my grow another year older is a blessing in their eyes. They all deserve to be recognized. It takes a village to raise a child.

3. Good Luck

Yes, good luck. I made it through one more year on this big hunk of rock we call earth, as amazing as that is, I wish for good luck for the next one coming. With a new year brings new challenges and opportunities. I hope for the best in all my endeavors , but I’m sure I’ll make mistakes along the way. God’s given me another year, lets make it a good one.
