October Outfit of the Day

Photographer: Leigh Coffey

October I’ve never been so happy to see you! Tunics and leggings everyday to class here I come. I know isn’t cold enough down here in Georgia for full blown peacoat and knee high boots yet, but I’m excited for the chilly weather to come. I’m obsessed with my tunic I got from Fabrik and the sweater I got from Target last year. They are both so comfy I can’t help but wear them this time of year. Paired with leather leggings and Nine West boots. It was the perfect outfit for hanging out at Starbucks with friends and working on this very blog post.I love dressing comfortably but still looking cute, it’s the perfect combination.

Looking forward to more fall outfits!!

Farewell Summer

Photographer: Adam Hagy

As we wave goodbye to summer and welcome fall with open arms, with PSL in hand. I just want to say goodbye with one more summer outfit of the day before the autumn is fully upon us. This was such a fun shoot with my good friend Adam. Of course I got in the water because why not! It was mushy but I will do what I have to do to get a good shot. However I am in LOVE with this dress. I found it at Plato’s closet when I was there selling clothes. I have dreamed up this dress I swear. It is so comfy and versatile. This time I paired it with a vest and wedges to make it more casual. but I have worn it before all by its self and a pair of heals and its a wonderful stand alone piece. As much as I love summer weather, I’m so ready for fall and winter, ayers, lattes, ice skating, but I digress. Goodbye summer we will miss you.

Friday Favorites

Time to kick the weekend off with a Friday Favorites! These are just a few of many products that I use and love. Hope you find something to try!

This is my favorite summer nail polish. I love the flirty color of this classic pink shade. It also has coral/gold glitter in the color that are perfect for summer.

Dark spot are still haunting my face after my acne invasion. I first tried this product in sample size in a gift bag from a fashion show. I couldn’t believe it, my dark shots were disappearing before my eyes like a circus act. Since then I bought a full size. I apply this after my toner and before my acne gel. Used consistently it aids in minimizing dark spots.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetI use to think the Clarosonic and other brushes were a gimmick. I just used my hands and a bit of soap and went along with my day. However I struggled with a bit of acne for a while and decided to try using a Clarosonic. The scrubbing power of this thing proved me wrong. I could never go back to just washing my face with my hands. I bring it everywhere and with such a cute shape and color how could I not!

Dooney and Bourke has always been one of my favorite purse brands. I bought this old school cross body saddle bag from a consignment store for $25. Personally I’m not a fan of Dooney and Bourke’s newer designs, I miss ones like this, so I was thrilled to find one for a good price. This is currently my favorite bag and I am in love with the color and size. However once school starts I may need to move back into a bigger bag, for now this one is perfect for fitting my planner, wallet, phone keys, keys and wide array for lip glosses.

Hopefully you found something new to try! What are your favorite products?

Travel Series: Top 5 Road Trip Tips

Travel Series

This summer I had the wonderful opportunity to go on a road trip with two of my best friends from my childhood. We headed from Atlanta, GeorgiIMG_3775a, USA to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. {For the Women’s World Cup Game, which was absolutely fantastic.} We had been planning the trip for about two months before going to decide who we would stay with along the way and who needed to bring what and such. I personally can say I learned a ton on this trip. I learned more about myself and other cities around America throughout the trip. If you get the chance to go on such a road trip with good friends, GO FOR IT, but make sure to read my tips before you head on the road.

Don’t Pack Everything

I know every travel blog out there tells everyone to pack light, but on road trips especially. I thought I packed light, but I didn’t even wear half of the clothes I brought. I stuck to comfy shorts/Capri leggings/leggings and loose-fitting, flowing shirts. The possibility for dressing cute is still an option, but you want it to be the comfy sort of cute.  I prefer a flowing tunic and Capri leggings with sandals for driving, that way you can take your shoes off and curl up. Also You can repeat outfits, people from Minneapolis are not going to know you are wearing the same leggings from when you were in Chicago.

Seat Jobs Assignments

Like mom giving you chores, everyone in the car agree on car jobs to keep the car clean and efficient. We also named our jobs officially so we could be proud of the things we had to do.

Three Seat Example: Front Drivers Seat: Drive. That is all! Front Passenger: Trash Ambassador and Head of Navigation. Backseat: Snacks Distributor and Assistant in Navigation.

IMG_5789If everyone has a job its easy to keep things organized.

Bring a Pillow and a Blanket

You wont always have control of the AC. It may be cold or hot and you at least want a blanket and pillow if you do find yourself lucky enough to be in the backseat. {Backseat is the most comfortable place to sleep.}

Health Conscious

One of my mistakes on the road was not to take very good care of myself. I ended up getting sick the last few days. I’m not exactly sure why, but I’m going to guess I did not wash my hands as much as I should have, although I did wash them frequently! Make sure you bring a First Aid Kit on your trip, just incase someone gets a paper cut or something. {I got three total, all in one day.} Hand Sanitizer in a must too! I would also bring Emergen-C! If you have never heard of them, drive to your nearest grocery store and buy some, they are in the medicine section. They are individual packets of Vitamin C goodies! They have a wonderful fizzy texture and yummy taste {raspberry is my favorite.}  Just remember to take care of yourself!

Plan for Spontaneity

The best part about road trips is the room for changes depending on the day, weather, who you run into, anything can alter your exact plans. The way we formulated our trip was to have a couple of hours in the big cities we went to and saw what or who we wanted to see in those cities before moving on. Get the most out of your trip, you may only get the chance to road trip with your besties once in a lifetime.

Have fun traveling Babes!

Spring Here We Come

Photographer: Jennifer Rexrode

Finally! as much as I love sweaters and layers, but I’m so ready for spring and summer! We are getting closer and closer to summer and sun and all things hot as Olaf would say. My friend and I of course had to have lunch at our favorite coffee shop on Monday. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. One of my favorite things about spring is all the energy I get. It seems like I accomplish 10x more in the spring than I could in a week of winter. Spring is also when I start incorporating some patterns, but I still have to have my basic black jeans and nude flats.

When Springs on the way, it it time to play!

Back to the Basics

Photographer: Sean Stanley

Is it not nice to get back to the basics? I love the simplicity of a pair of black jeans and a white tshirt. During rough weeks when classes, family, work, and relationships,  {or climbing on to this windowsill to get the perfect shot} are taking too much time in my head. There is no time to stand in front of my closet and try and work some magic, the basics act as my sweatpants.  The best part about a plain white tshirt is you can dress it up however you like. I choose this amazing hat I got at the beginning of fall. As hard as it was to keep on my head during the shoot, it is too cute to just let it sit in my closet any longer. Life will hand you loads of reasons not to make a change, but sometimes you have to take risks. Whether they be fashion risks or life risks, every risk has its trials {the hat falling off} and its rewards. {the hat is the bomb} Maybe I did just teach a life lesson referring to my hat, but it was a risk I was willing to take.

Leather and Sweater Weather

Photographer: Jenny Leigh Photography

When can I start dressing for spring? I’m so ready for pastels, warm weather, and sandals. For now I’ll settle for faux-leather leggings and comfy sweaters. These leather leggings were the best Christmas present. They are such and alternative to regular leggings, they add a bit of edge to any outfit. They also look a bit more put together than normal leggings. Spring please hurry up so I can ditch the scarf and opt for a statement necklace. Are you ready for spring?

Everyone has their “lazy day” outfit. Mine happens to be an oversized flannel, skinny jeans, and booties. It is a fabulous combo of cute and comfy. I can walk to the sound of clicking heels and still get that spark of confidence while also keeping it loose and comfortable. I found my flannel at a thrift store for about five dollars. I love thrift stores for the one reason of finding cozy oversized sweaters and flannels that need some love. I also acquired these shoes from a thrift store. These babies only cost me four dollars! Another purchase from the thrift store was this wonderful jacket. also a five dollar purchase. Over all the most expensive thing I’m wearing is my pants. Good deals are my absolute favorite since I then have more money to spurge on big items.

Shopping on a Budget is not so bad.

Fall is in the Air

Today was a good day. I got to go on a hike with my mom and see all the amazing beautiful colors of the leaves changing. Its almost fall! I am so excited. Scarves and Boots are on the way. For now I have accepted that skinny jeans and chucks is how I’ll be. Today i just wanted to be simple to show off my brand new chucks! I had a pair in the past, but I have not idea where they disappeared too. They are my go to pair of shoes because they are so versatile and laid back.

The Little Black Dress has been a style icon since Coco Chanel in 1920’s. The classic look can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion which is why black is one of my favorite colors as well as taking up half of my closet. Here I was dressing for my cousins wedding. I paired this black dress that my Mom bought for me a few years ago, with a skinny tan belt to break it up a bit, combined with my Mary Jane pumps from DSW brought the outfit together quite seamlessly. The one thing I love about this dress is it is long enough to not worry about how you move which is perfect for a wedding when you’re jumping around and dancing the night away. Fabulous Evening!
